Clack organic scavenger water filters address the issue of water discolouration by effectively eliminating organic compounds. Water discolouration is a common concern, especially in private water supplies, where it often manifests as elevated levels of iron and manganese. Discoloured water can be attributed to heightened organic content, commonly referred to as tannins.
Tannins are a group of naturally occurring organic compounds that can find their way into water sources, imparting distinctive colour and sometimes causing concerns for both drinking water quality and aesthetic appeal. These compounds are primarily generated from the decomposition of plant materials like leaves, roots, and bark, as well as peat, a type of soil rich in organic matter.
One of the most noticeable characteristics of tannins in water is their ability to turn it a yellow to brown colour, referred to as “tea-stained” or “hummic” water. This discolouration can be quite unsightly.
Our Clack Organic Scavenger units are equipped with two distinct types of anion selective resins that are engineered to specifically target and reduce tannins. It’s important to note that these units necessitate a relatively higher dose of sodium for their regeneration process, and the regeneration frequency is typically determined based on an on-site assessment of the water’s quality and the severity of the issue.
